Agree, this is a slap in the face to Alumni. The Administration pretends like this is a brand new school which doesn’t have any history or traditions. And they have to make them.
Or, it’s all because of those dastardly gold mining 49ers who murdered some Native Americans so we can’t have anything or anyone that reminds us of them. We must erase them.
It’s just absurd.

Also totally agree. We are the 49ers. Unfortunately, we have people in the athletic department who don't really care what we think. They haven't been here long enough to care about our history, and they won't be here long enough to care in the future. We needed long time AD employees, like the recently retired Cindy Masner, to stand up against the trashing of our traditions. She may have, behind the scenes, for all I know, but she's now retired, so it doesn't matter.

He thought the basketball team was formerly called the Dirtbags and he said "I am having a problem saying Long Beach State Beach. This branding confusion was caused by the top-level administration at Long Beach State. Hopefully, the next admins will fix the problem. Previous Message
