Casper Ware was far ahead of Tone Hunter as a sophomore. In fairness, Casper was in his second year starting at LB, Tone is just getting his feet wet in D1.
Larry Anderson was a first team all BW as a frosh, but took a small step backwards as a sophomore. Both Jadon Jones and Larry were defensive stars, but Larry was a better all around scorer, Jones is a better three point shooter.
In the frontcourt, for the Fab4 you had Eugene Phelps and TJ Robinson, currently you have Aboubacar Traore and Lassina Traore. TJ is still the LB overall leading career rebounder, and I think he is still the BW overall leading rebounder. Despite this, I think the combination of the two Traores is better at rebounding than the Phelps/TJ combo. Combined, they are pulling down 17.8 rebounds per game for this season, compared to TJ and Phelps as sophomores combined for 15.4. TJ pulled down 10.1 per game in his soph year. It is fair to note that the Fab 4 played a tougher schedule as sophomores than this year's team which can impact numbers.
For frontcourt scoring, as sophomores TJ averaged 15.4 PPG on the season and was ahead of either of this year's players, Phelps was a little later bloomer as a soph. he scored 8.1 ppg. (combined 23.5). The Traore's are not as consistent, Lassina is averaging 10.7 and Aboubacar 9.8 (20.5 combined). Worth noting is that both have been much stronger in conference play with Lassina averaging 13.6 ppg and Aboubacar 11.8. So it seems reasonable to expect them both to improve their season stats.
As a team, LB was 17-16 overall and 8-8 in the BW in 2009-10, we will see where this year's edition ends up.
