You make it seem like he never travels for his NFL job. He needs a strong agent to pull off the 5 venue job with the NBA. There is a big time agent named Leigh S. in Newport Beach (aka Jerry M). Maybe break down during negotiations and agree to an occasional game in Portland. Maybe he can cut a deal by doing Leigh's taxes?
I support the cause for Bill V to ref in the NBA, even if you do not. But have mercy on his poor soul and keep it local.

There are 30 teams in the NBA with the majority of them being in the central or eastern United States requiring extensive travel. NBA refs are full time jobs during the season. Huge difference from the 2 games a week Big West schedule with local travel and 1 hour flights except for Hawaii. Previous Message

All short travel from Long Beach/Orange County. 1 hour flights.

Let me put it another way. Bill Vinovich is a SUPERSTAR in terms of football officiating. As you say he has done the last two super bowls.
Meanwhile, in his other job, he is relegated to Big West basketball, not working in pro hoops play.
He's solid in hoops. But GOD LIKE in football.
Understand what I'm saying?
P.S. I cannot judge his work as a CPA, that is not in front of my eyes. My guess is he is very good at that also. Previous Message
If you are intimating that he is not a good basketball official you are way off base. As a matter of fact he is one of the best Big West basketball officials.
BTW, he has a local CPA business in the OC.

I'll be nice and say I respect him greatly as a football official. Some folks work multiple sports (announcers, refs, etc.) but not all succeed in each sport. Previous Message

He is Bill Vinovich. He was the lead ref at our MBB game vs Fooolerton.
