National Outside Attacker of the Week: Sotiris Siapanis, Long Beach State
"Siapanis finished with eight aces – the second-most aces in a single match in school history – and added nine kills in a sweep versus Long Island on Friday. The outside attacker also had a match-high 12 kills on a .545 attack percentage in a sweep against George Mason on Saturday."
He is essentially the replacement for Alex Nikolov. That sounds impossible and intimidating, but he serves almost as good; at 6-3 is amazingly jumpy and has a variety of kill shots (more like Olivier) but can't compare to Nikolov's ridiculous kill-abilities; passes better; defends the net better; and is feisty like Alex was which I like. That said, he's NO Alex Nikolov, no one is. But he brings a skillset that integrates well into a team with many other high level players, read whatever you want into that! Just my opinion of course.
