Not sure if it has changed since I coached in the NCAA, but to get a medical redshirt year, you could not have competed in 25% or more of the team's days of competitions...that would be 7, maybe 8 games depending on the definition, for our Men's Basketball team.

Clearly, however the coaching staff and compliance office will do whatever they can for one of the student athletes.
