1. The many new parts of this team are coming together. Players understanding their roles, defense and pressure HOPEFULLY taking affect from herein.
2 Re Murray: His wrist has been a performance issue all season and a big reason his FG and FT percentages are down. But look at the significant improvement in his A/T ratio. As well his leadership. While he is out for the year, Joel is very engaged on the bench during games Previous Message
When Murray was fully healthy, he was a strong weapon to have. Yes he held the ball too much and isn't a real PG, really a small scoring guard. And its clear we are better without an injured Murray playing, but better without a healthy Murray? Not so sure about that.
Tone when under control but still being aggressive is great, he has court vision and can score when needed, but he also has issues like driving into brick walls and flipping up prayers. I like his overall game and he came up big in big moments last night.
Tsohonis I can forgive when he holds the ball too long, because he knows how to pick apart a defender and once he gets within 8 feet of the bucket he can be deadly. He can pass well and has good vision he just gets into one on one mode too much.
We are really good inside the Traore's are beasts, Stroud is good in 5 minute chunks, we could use Polynice for depth hope he gets back soon. When was the last time our greatest strength was rebounding and interior scoring? Previous Message
Whether it's AT or Tone at the point this team is a much better team now than with Murray there. Hate to say an injury makes us better but it does. We pass and cut much better to the hoop. Strange now that 2 years in a row an occurance has made us better. Last year with all the coaches input CDM lost a little stubborness and set up a new pressure defense that spurred us to the Big West title. This year it is definitely a new plan on offense due to an injury!
