I'd welcome hearing what the estimated overall breakdown is. From what I've read, and attributed to the Beach Director of Facilities, there are various systems within the Pyramid needing refurbishment or replacement. Further to that, a booster in conversation had relayed that Jane mentioned $22MM for the roof replacement.
Other items, that could be costly might be:
* Mechanical/HVAC: with replacing the roof, the current mechanical system would have to be removed and either replaced or refurbished
* Hydraulic systems controlling the actuation of the three bleacher systems. If needing to be addressed, I'd think this is a costly item.
* Electrical: Always expensive
* With the above, is the significant rise in materials pricing over the last two years. Some of the building systems I am involved with have approached a doubling in price over that time.
Is the Pyramid a victim of deferred maintenance that could be attributed to available funding mechanisms....CSU funding limitations? COVID?
Or in hindsight, has the Pyramid's design proven to not be efficient as was thought? I remember reading during the Pyramid's construction that the space frame design was a cost savings. Along with providing and iconic design?
The only good news is that these wet winters donít often happen.
But, the Myd could be starting to show some age (29)?
Panic level??? Are you saying that a 35 million to 55 million reroof bill is not a big problem?
Beach volleyball is an outdoor sport so the efficacy of the Pyramid is not relevant for this weekend's tournament.
