With all of that said, and as much as I would HATE to see the PYRAMID go away, I would hope that we will plan for a longer lasting structure as we move forward! We are talking some really big bucks to keep it going. It might be time to bite the bullet and design a more convention and sustainable structure!!! Previous Message
I love the iconic image that is the Pyramid. LBSU will never have the money to build a truly first rate facility, and its uniqueness does impress people I talk to.
What is past is past, but let’s face it, the Mid was built cheap.
There is the roofing issue; only some of the seating was installed; even if the upper deck had been installed the seats would have had terrible sightlines. I remember when they installed the giant screen talking to someone in the athletic department. I told him that I thought they would want a scoreboard hanging from the ceiling above midcourt. His response was that the Mid was not structurally sound enough to support a scoreboard hanging from the ceiling.
So, the Mid was built without all its seating, a poorly constructed roof that did not last as long as the roof on my home, and it is not strong enough to support a scoreboard hanging from the ceiling.
I agree that we need to not panic, but whatever solution is taken, I hope it is a real solution and not just something to say it’s done but once the AD has parted will be falling apart.
