Apparently Knipe's hand is beat up again, just like last year...he can muddle through it but it makes it that much harder he was starting to get more precise especially to the middles now its back to needing near perfect passes and Hawaii always serves tough.
Only bright side is v UCSB I noticed the team was rallying around Knipe when he couldn't get a set down like he should, and Olivier has really stepped up.
Keys to the matches this weekend? Solid passing a must; connection to Godbold has to improve and be less obvious he's getting stuffed too often; our serving has to be lights out; Olivier needs to bring his A+ game; back row BIC sets need to mix in; would love to see Knipe dump a couple easy ones he NEVER does that and we will need any points we can get
Not worried about our block, when its on its nasty good. Thelle mixes it up as good as anyone though so we need to expect we'll have no better than double coverage. But its been all we need so far.
I don't expect a win in either match, if we go 1-1 that's a huge accomplishment! If we go 0-2 but push Hawaii to the limit both matches, that's a good sign. Hoping for the best (2-0 wow sure!)
Forget all the bball bs and get behind a National Championship contender! These two games at Hawaii will be as tough as any matches we have this year, including if we make it to the NCAA finals, so how we do this weekend is a strong indicator of how we could fare if we get into the final four.
