I think to replace the roof with a new structure can be done but the budding was built as a space form pyramid to save money. I would think the entire structure would be inadequate structurally to simply cut off the pyramid roof and place a real roof on top as the structure wasn't engineered for this. Of course it can be done but it would seem to be so expensive and to be prohibitive.

I see the estimates for $55 million are probably something along these lines and that's probably a low figure. The question is to redo the building and it costs $75-$100 million dollars or build an entirely new structure that costs maybe $200 million dollars. That is a lot of money.

I don't k now the answer, just speculating. Anything is possible, but costs of replacement may trump chopping off the roof.
