Men basketball is the top issue for most here. And you are right the new AD will probably want Dan to retire . We will see in the fall.

Why does this same issue appear time after time? A new AD will be hired. CDM's contract runs out after next season. He will be 62 and able to retire. A new coach will be hired. . AllAll Previous Message
Not to support Dan but keeping Dan is cheaper than hiring a new coach who would need to be paid much more than Dan. Depends on school budget and Jane Previous Message

Bottom line for me, I think Monson is most likely to retire following next season at the end of his contract. In general, while he has not been as awful as some here seem to think, he has been mediocre for something like the last 10 seasons, and 1 NCAA appearance in 16 years given the advantages he has had is completely inadequate.
The only reason to extend him beyond next season would be if he has a fantastic season next year, and the players want him to come back for one more season (the core for team will be seniors that additional year.). I do not have any knowledge that the players want him to return, but there is a strong core here that seems to be loyal to CDM. Previous Message
