For men’s basketball location of where they currently live is not a factor.
Maybe familiarity with existing assistants on staff, who would be living in the area already, but it would be their position not location that is the factor.

Cost of living in Santa Barbara area is higher than here. When a coaching change occurs there they are more likely going to hire someone that already lives there. Many who live there and go to UCSB stay in the area.
