I'd be shocked at that actually. Not because I wish he were gone 7 years ago, but I would be shocked at such a bold move by an interim AD.
I'd venture a guess that they are examining ways to get the athletics budget away from regular university funds subsidizing it. That's why I think Conoley will pass the new fee.
And why I also think part of this solution is dropping some sports altogether. I won't venture any guesses what, they would only be guesses.

The delay in searching and selecting a new AD is going to bite us in the ass.
I've heard some not too popular news is coming down the pike.
Also:
The narrative from Brotman Hall is that there will be no increases and athletics will have to do more with less and if they can win thats great but Brotman wont be working to build on baseline budget increases any time soon. They have slashed budgets to the point it is hurting.
And even if the student fee is likely, all it does is replace the lost revenue from COVID. This will make fund raising more important and that arm is understaffed.
