No surprise. First set was close 25-22. Freshman setter Island Doty, 6-5, started the game in place of Aidan Knipe. I thought this move might happen against a weak UCSD team, get the kid experience. He looked a little off during that first set and we were behind midway through, so Knipe brought in Aidan to settle the team down and win the set, exactly what happened.

Sets 2 and 3 Doty worked much better and we destroyed the Tritons 25-13 then 25-16. Besides just being light years better as a team and far more high level guys, we murdered them on the block, most damage done by Torwie he was toying with them at the net got 10 blocks.

Doty looked like the setter of the future. Biggest difference was he takes swings got 3 kills and while Aidan is a good blocker for a 6-3 guy, Doty really gets up there. Has a decent serve too. His timing with the pins got better as the game progressed but still needs lots of reps.

Godbold had a big game. Siapanis one of his weaker games just struggled to get it going. Olivier had some big moments.

Tonight should be a blowout so long as Knipe's squad is focused.
