FULLERTON, Calif. – Long Beach’s bats went cold in the rivalry series finale, falling 9-1 to Cal State Fullerton on Sunday afternoon. Despite the loss, the Dirtbags still won their third consecutive series over the Titans with wins on Friday and Saturday.

The Titans offense was pesky and consistent in the weekend finale, plating two runs in the first, single runs in the third, fourth, and sixth, before a crooked four-spot in the seventh.

The only Dirtbag run of the afternoon came in the top of the third. After a leadoff double from Kyle Ashworth and an infield single from Jashia Morrissey-Jakel put runners on the corners, Nick Marinconz connected for a flyout to center field deep enough to plate a run.

In the box score, seven different ‘Bags registered a hit, but nobody had multiple and only one went for extra bases.

Long Beach State will close out the regular season next weekend by hosting UC Davis for a three-game series. It will deviate from the normal weekend schedule as the games will be played Thursday through Saturday with all three first pitches happening at 6 p.m.
