FWIW, I really have high hopes for the new Coach. But, I think Jr hits it on the head here. Let's be realistic. Our top returning player from last year averaged 2.5 ppg. The three recruits we know about are all freshmen. Based on what we have on board, I cannot see a realistic scenario where we win the BW. It may be theoretically possible that Caitlin Clark will decide she would like nicer weather and transfer to LB, that would almost certainly improve our immediate fortunes, but I'm not holding my breath.
What is realistic? Our last two coaches took 4-6 years to challenge for the top of the league. I think a good coach can do it quicker with the portal; but, so far we are signing freshmen. This is a sign the Coach intends to build a solid foundation instead of trying the quick fix. I think it is a reasonable strategy. Give her time. Previous Message
i like the running offense and a full court press -- still thing we need a 6"3 plus center who can run and take care of the defensive basket -- yep ight just be a very good year for a 1st year coach ---- GO 40ers ----------------- Previous Message
Jr, Just on the fact that we do have good players. The ones we have left didn't play up to their potential. More coming as well as Amy recruits. We are going to play a run and gun offense. Play a tenacious defense. We should match up very well with Irvine and the others as well. My opinion we will be am exciting team to watch. Previous Message
Right now the Big West conference gets only the tourney champion into the NCAA Tourney. Last year UCI and LB St were the best teams and our RPIs were both in the mid 90s. Unless we improve greatly and get our RPI into the 40 we will have to win the Big West Conference tourney. Previous Message
Based on what David? Previous Message
We should compete very well in the Big West. Against power schools we will have trouble but we should make the post season. Previous Message
I know that Amy has been out working the recruiting trail very hard! The next couple of years are going to be fun for Women's Basketball in my opinion!!! Previous Message
Great to hear, Dennis. I loved the way Joan's teams played back in the 80s. I would love to see something close to that again. Plus, I believe that style gives us something of a recruiting edge, because players like to play that style.
Also, check out this tweet from Arkansas high school player, Anna Trusty, a 2024 recruit...

Not a commitment, yet. But, very positive. Previous Message
I attended my first Women's Basketball practice, with new coach, Amy Wright this morning. What a pleasure to watch! Fast moving and very upbeat on both offense and defense. There were only 8 or 9 players, but it was really a fun practice to watch. Everything was timed, and counted. I think that this is going to be a fun team to watch over the next few years.
