Re: Off Topic. Spectrum Disney Dispute
As a young I loved listening to Bob Kelly on radio as Ram games were blacked out unless there was a sellout 72 hours before kick off.
He was the radio announcer for the PCL Angels for many years and during the 1st season in 1961 for the Angels.
He died way too young at 49 from a heart attack.
He was also the announcer for the Rams.
bob kelly was the angel announcer -- forgot the stars announcer --- me angel dad star ----
yep in the day listen to the la angels and the hollywood stars with jim healy and dont remember they guy for the stars -- listen to the la rams and la dons -- also ucla and sc along with listening to the anouncer of the nd football every saturday -- this guy to me had a great voice -- that was the day of imagination when listening to the games --------------------
With respect to Disney I think they did not plan well and promised the moon financially to the college power football and basketball conferences. They are nows scrambling for more money. They know streaming has been what they thought it would be financially. Per Charter Communications, owner of Spectrum, many people are dropping cable tv. Thus continuing to raise rates is not something they want to do now. Oh and yesterday Disney indicated espn will now have a segment where people can do online gambling.
Then there is the NIL situation. It is all a mess.
I love sports but I am sick of all of it. It is bad enough that we pay what we presently do. We have a regular tv where we can watch channel 7. It has more channels available than one can imagine without the cost. When I was a kid I usedvto listen to baseball games and auto races with my dad and attend local high school games. It was better then.
