I asked the Athletic Dept why Jewels of the Night went away. I was told that, as was stated above, it had past it's prime of involvement in both participants and vendors and was not making $$ for the athletic program. As in any business you weigh the cost of doing busness and the income. Deleting it was a no brainer. Previous Message
wow -- out of 35,000 students and alums one could not find enough folks to help with this event -- if you do not try then you will never find out the answer -- if you could only find 11% to help out then that should be enough folks to put on the event --- lets get read of the wokers and bring back the 49ers and things will turn around for the better ----------------------- GO 49ers ----- Previous Message
Many of the events were handled by the Alumni Relations Dept. It all stopped when the prez greatly downsized the dept. Jewels of the Night was handled by the athletic dept. Keep in mind it takes a lot of people and a good amount of money to put on these events. We had a lot of alumni and general volunteers avaiable and willing to help with these events. It would be very difficut to accomplish such events now for many reasons.
