It's always your Friends

There's an old adage that "It's always your friends who do you in". Jane may not be the enemy of the Athletic Department, but she has overseen its demise in very unfortunate ways.
It is an embarassing testament to the department leadership that our TOTAL donations for the year was only $1.9 million. But no donor wants to give to something that doesn't inspire hope or quality, just like no one gives a homeless person sitting on the curb a million dollars. You might give your loose change or a few crumpled dollar bills, but you're not going to invest in something that doesn't inspire potential, and Jane has failed to provide any kind of inspirational vision for Athletics.
Her disastrous handling of Commencement is just another example of her failure to provide leadership. Many of our previous big donors have express this sentiment.
I do not think that she is the enemy of the athletic department either!!!
Things have changed and they will not go backward. Only one thing will change from your list and that is Jane will retire-sometime. I am not convinced she is the enemy of the athletic dept.
I've been hounded lately to update my address with LBSU and the tone of the requests has been quite demanding. I discard every email and mailer than comes to me. I love my LBSU heritage and this idiot Jane Conoley spearheaded a movement to bury it in her woke coffin. So until we get back our traditions and history (and Pete will never come back thanks to Jane) and get rid of moronic Elbee, I will only give sparingly if at all. Money talks...
Aside from staff effort (beyond Legends in 3nd St and Naples Rib Joint)... and previously noted low student fees at one of the most applied to units in the NATION....
Donor interest low perhaps:
• One NCAA in flagship sport is 20+ years ago
• Last CWS in Omaha 25 yrs ago
• WVB 20 yrs removed from a run
• MVB is the very successful and very well funded but honestly it's a 'boutique' sport with less than 20 D1 teams and only half those fully funded. It has a loyal but niche following.
Oh, and let's not forget:
• 49er alums, like me, no longer have a mascot or name they recognize. #NotHappy
But otherwise, what could possibly hold back donor giving?
New A.D. has big job re-energizing after 20 yrs of turds.
How about someone gets off their ass in the Athletic Dept and start going after more alums, fans, students for new donors. It's not fair to blame the people that are already generously giving their hard earned money. We need new blood or we will be D2 in a very short time.
EXACTLY! Start upping the checks before complain and try to compare ourselves with schools like a UCSB or goddamn Fresno State! It is not even close how much NIL money they have compared to LBSU
I think that we have a little over 2,000 boosters, which generally says that the AVERAGE booster donates about $700 per year. We either need to attract a lot more boosters, or hope that our current booster base is willing to make major increases to our donor levels per year if we want to compete with the schools that we would like to compete with in sports!!!
It is interesting in that we, the donors, contribute less than $1.5M compared to the donor contributions at schools that we would like to compare ourselves to!!! In short, we in general, are part of the problem!!!!
