tailgating with alumns. Representing the school inside the venues
with their cheer squads? He gone. Nobody’s grandfathered.
FWIW, I have zero clue why we can’t continue to use the 49er
nickname for sports and branding purposes similar to Aztecs. They certainly still use 49er in communication geared at trying to get you to donate. I’d love to get a hot mic during the commercial after the game announcer does the pregame intro where he calls us the Long Beach State Beach….Ill bet it’s “I feel so F’n stupid after having to say that”.
The CSU said, when we changed mascots, they no longer allow 'human' mascots (current ones were grandfathered in)
So nitwit Jane is to blame we can never have a human mascot again, unless the CSU changes their tune and they won't
I have a good compromise. We get rid of the shark that pissed off the majority of alumni and the ones who actually donate, and we replace it with Surfer Pete. It goes with the Beach theme, and you could write a narrative that says “Surfer Pete named after his Grandfather (our old Pete) is blah blah blah some story about him. That way you don’t disrespect the naming of Pete after our original President, and it is the closest to appeasing all sides. Also then we don’t have a mascot that looks like it’s shitting out another shark. I’m serious look at the shark mascot, it looks like that is happening. Then rename the Student Section to something catchy, and rebrand what has been a very poorly run marketing/Branding strategy at The Beach. I also would like to see the game warn style shorts be sold for fans (like the 562 ones). People would wear them to the gym, out in public, etc. That’s free marketing, and our shorts are actually cool. Almost all major schools sell the shorts the players wear on the court. Perhaps we could get a bigger sponsorship of the Pyramid and use that money to make the Necessary improvements. I think our program has the most potential around, and they could really grow it going forth.
