2022, we won a regular season title and were one basket from the NCAAs.
2023, we lost our senior point guard before conference play, otherwise we have a good chance to replicate the success of 2022 and possibly get back to the big dance. Still won 11 games in a really good year for the Big West.
2024, we are champions.
Now, it's possible we lose our core to the portal anyway but if we can keep the Traores, AJ and Jadon, we are the obvious favorites to repeat in 2025. If retaining Dan was our best chance to bring those players back, then moving on is a massive mistake. Just my opinion though.
I am not sure too many people are looking at the overall picture, and not just the past week (which has been great). I like Dan as a person and wish he and his family the best of everything in the past, no matter if that is with or without LBS. The news people are all focused on the last few days and have ignored (for better or worse) the overall results of the last 17 years. No matter what, it is exciting to see LBS getting so much national pub, and to see our little message board lighting up the way that it is. This is the lever of interest that we somehow need to be able to bottle up and use over and over again!!! Go 49'ers!
They get it, unlike Slytherin -- I mean Smitheran.
You will still have a few more chances to catch the PTI (National ESPN Show) this afternoon. Check your local listings. Tony and Mike talked about Dan and Long Beach State for a minute or more and show snips of our Big West Tournament win. Their take is, give him another couple of years...
