I would like to hear Smitheran and the new coach's strategy on NIL for the basketball program. This is especially interesting as, if the new HC is from SDSU, they both would have come from a program with a successful NIL collective impacting MBB. They have been open about its importance.
I hear random folks talking about NIL in broad terms, but it just comes down to programs and how they approach this. Interested to hear how the men's volleyball one is doing. https://www.lbvolleyball.com/
Dan seemed to tout his program not being focused on that (again, a dinosaur). There needs to be some movement here: LB State as a brand itself is attractive.

I tend to think a Mid Major coach more aligns with having success here. Recruiting circles matter, and a high major recruiter may have more ins with established AAU circuit people, maybe you could lure over a higher rated recruit 5 years ago, but less so now if you don't have NIL to get those recruits.
I personally hope it is. He has the profile of someone who fits the bill and has the perspective of having to build as a "mid-major," has seen the Big West, etc. - yet just came of a national title game last year. (Assistant, but both sides of the ball in his history + has had head coaching experience).
No doubt the guy knows how to recruit as well.

San Diego State held on and beat UAB 69-65 so if our new coach is the guy at SDSU that will have to wait until at the earliest next week as the Aztecs play Sunday.
