In fact, we did. Lucious Harris was offered late by Kansas but honored his verbal commitment to the Beach largely because his HS coach was Bobby Braswell, who was coming as an assistant coach. At the time we were also in play for his HS teammate, Adonis Jordan, who did end up at Kansas. Harris still made it to Fogg during his Sr. season and, probably, the biggest win in program history.
I know Acker mentioned wanting to have the most hated staff in the Big West. TBD if he accomplished that goal, but Harrington and Greenberg DEFINITELY earned that moniker their first years at Long Beach. Very East Coast attitude that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, including several Pac10 (at the time) coach's.
