6’2 Tavid Johnson 2027 (Francis Parker/San Diego CA) West Coast Elite 16 UAA
The freshman was cooking in the 2nd half of play for WCE 16s and led the spark that eventually gave the lead to WCE over Why Nots 16s before falling short by a score of 52 to 49. Johnson would score 10 of his team high 14 points after the break and displayed his nice mid-range game. Johnson has nice handles, keeps the ball on a string, moves to shake his defender, makes good use of the hesitation to freeze his opponent, and has nice touch on the floater down the lane. Johnson showed he can hit perimeter shots with frequency off the dribble or the catch and shoot and is a good on-ball defender that gets into his opponents dribbling space. One of the top freshmen in California looking to expand his name nationally on the UAA circuit playing up in the 16u division.
Standout scoring guard Aaron Powell also chipped in 22 points, as he displayed his ability to get to the line, knock down the 3-ball off the dribble or the catch and shoot, and his elite burst of speed when on the attack.
2024 6’2 Aaron Powell (Campbell Hall/North Hollywood CA)
Powell was one of the top scorers at the Ron Massey Classic and will be the driving force offensively for the Vikings this season. Powell had one of the top-scoring performances in his first showcase game, putting up 28 points connecting on 6 threes in the process. Powell followed that up with a 19-point performance in his second game with 13 of those points coming after halftime. Powell is lightning-quick on the court, has nice body control when on the attack, is a creative finisher at the basket, and has limitless range from beyond the arc. Powell makes great use of the hesitation to keep his defender off balance, can stop on a dime, gets good lift on his jumper, and makes good reads when the defense collapses on him. Volume scorer that can hurt the defense from various spots on the court.
Mazi Mosley 6’6” 2025 St. Francis (La Canada CA)
Mosley is a very talented guard with nice scoring and ball skills. Wiry frame and quick twitch allow him to slash and explode at the rim and he has the speed to create his own shot. 247Sports.com’s #44 in 2025, Mazi has terrific long-term upside! Averaged 22.5 ppg on Sunday.
Mazi Mosely, 6’4 2025 SG – West Coast Elite: Has some wiggle off the bounce and creative off the dribble. Upside with his shot making and versatility especially once he gets stronger and really grows into his body. Saw him for the first time in September and saw growth in his game since then.
