Agree on the obsolescence of red shirting players. Even before everything got turned on its head the last 2 years, Temi Yusseff was the only guy who ever red shirted and stayed for 5 years during Monson’s tenure, and it wasn’t like we didn’t red shirt a lot of guys. As far as team depth, it seems easier to have when you’ve got a good mix of experienced guys in your program and you sprinkle in guys along the way (ex, Fab 4, then add in Caffey, Ennis, Edis). Expecting 9+ new guys to play with cohesion during a season going to be tough. Then again, lots of teams going through the same thing. Perhaps we see more extensive “line shift” approaches deployed by coaches.
Nice to see you on the message board again in recent times. I too am looking forward to next season. I think that with all that is going on with college basketball that we are going to see less and less of the "redshirt" players in the future. Injuries could come into play here, but if they do not play, they are just going to move to another team and take there chances there!!!
Looking at final roster, I would conclude the incoming FR Nagy and Martin would both RS, unless they saw blow the socks off the staff, maybe Eli or Lewis RS as well.
Looks like we have 4 post players with Johnson, Richardson, Xzavierro and Nagy. I see Xzaav. listed as a SF, but will see.
I noticed a theme among the new players; defense, ball handling(something that's been a weakness for sometime), defense and three point shooting.
Excited to see a scrimmage and get season tickets r g
