Great win for Xander, but it still sucks a little that his time at Long Beach is something less than an afterthought. I’m not predicting similar stardom out of Ian Gilligan who transferred from LB to Florida, but he’s having a pretty good summer repping the US in some international amateur events, as well as holding his own playing this week in the opposite field PGA event in Tahoe. He’s got a shot at becoming a solid pro, as well. Again, we’ll get about zero credit / acknowledgement.

I’ll be curious if the golfing media starts pushing Xander in the “top player” conversation over Scheffler. That seemed unimaginable 2 months ago, but 2 majors in a season changes things, and Xanders excellent all around great game plays up versus a guy who often putts himself out of big events.
