What I recognize as representing my alma mater and what I fondly remember are being erased for political appeasement of a small minority of students and staff, and others in the general population who don't have strong ties to LBSU. And for what I believe as dubious, weak-minded reasons that aren't reflected in the origin story of Prospector Pete and the 49ers name. If associating with miners from 200 years ago (some were homicidal to native americans, many weren't) was the problem, maybe a rebranding of Pete as a surfer or lifeguard or something might have been a constructive change.

A complete over reaction that has and will continue to isolate alumni. These decisions all have an impact on my willingness to give money to the university I once loved and associated closely with. I no longer do. I am pretty casual now with my ties to LBSU except in athletics, and because of other factors, that interest will probably lessen over time.

I no longer care about even mentioning the bonehead who has driven all this nonsense. I can only speak with my wallet, and it opens only for athletics for now. If a new leader with sense comes along, I may reconsider.
