Sorry to hear about your situation. Been to NC a couple times, looks pretty sweet! Hope you adjust well and find a community of friends there.
I’m from the class of ‘83, so a big time old timer! I moved out of CA in 87 and moved overseas, New Zealand, in ‘03. My older brother retired to ID about 6 years ago, partly because of cost/politics. My younger bro retired 6 months ago. Loves CA, he lives in a coastal community. However, he is getting tired of the politics and cost of living. They’d are considering moving out of state. My sister lives about 15 south of “the Beach”.
Been wild seeing what is happening to “my home state.”
Apologies to the long ramble! 😎
Sorry to hear you're leaving, Russ. I hope to see you again before you take off. Also sorry about your pain. Best of luck always.
Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm narrowing it down to Statesvill, Winston Salem and Camp Lejuen. I'm n going theu crime rates and rent amounts. Were leaving in February, likely the first. My brother is moving to Tallahasee Florida to head his own Chevrolet Dealership.
I live in Severe pain and getting my pain at a manageable level has been difficult. The Government micro manages doctors these days and I need refills every 30 days which is what made moving difficult. In January I had a pain pump surgically implanted in me and only need refill every 4 months. It was the best decision I've ever made. The medicine is given into the spine directly and they use a small amount as compared to pills. So now I can move and don't need to rush when we move.
I tried using the VA for health but their pain management is awful
Thank you for staying a loyal 49er for all these years. My regrets on your 100% disability. I was an 11B and ended up with a hearing disability, but they wanted me to stay at Fort Lewis for another month. I declined. I just live with it, but not knowing your case, I am not suggesting you just live with it. Follow the Beach for NC, just like Sparky does from Missouri. Best if luck in the future.
Well I was planning to get season tickets and really get back into physically supporting the team. Finances are very tight living on a Military Disability pension. I'm at 100% and it isn't a bad monthly payment.
I have a 20 year old son and he is Autistic but is very high functioning and can hold a job. My issue is the cost of living is unsustainable for us. I'm on Section 8 housing, still pay 1200 a month and live in low class neighborhood with Graffiti and homelessness. We are moving to North Carolina and me and my son will not need any assistance at all. I will pay 900 for a 2 bedroom in a new apartment hone complex with amenities. Right now I have no dishwasher or AC. My brother is moving to Florida so we'd have no family if I stayed. I only posted this to see if anyone else has notice how everyone else is doing. I'll miss CA as I've lived here all my life. I should make some gamed as we're leaving in Janaury/February
