They came out uninspired and dropped the first set. Passing was horrible in the first set snd improved slightly in the remaining sets. Maxwell has loads of potential, she has trouble with offset in both the front and backrow. If she improves that one item she will be a 4 year starter. They won 3-1, but it took awhile for them to hit stride. Lomigora, Maxwell, Meyer, Glenn and Bacon all played well. If Veluccci, Chacon and Giambi keep shanking there are players on the bench who can pass. The hitters need to be covered.

Just watched the match. The score does not reflect the match. The mats took an early game 1 lead and the women fought back to win 27-25. But it was ugly. The big takeaway was the passing was not very good. Meyer was running all over the court. Against a better team like Hawaii it would be a loss. The team really needs to get the passing sharper.

I also noticed the hitters are hitting a little to low. A little higher off the opponent’s fingers works better. A block by the opponent is a lost point, off the fingertips is at worse a 50-50 situation
That said this team can be terrific. It is the little things that is keeping them from winning every night.
