It is my understanding UH pays the travel subsidy, not the MW. The BWC needs UH men’s volleyball. BWC presidents/ chancellors need to vote to up the travel fee, and need to do very soon to accommodate UH’s desire to lower their travel subsidies. UH will be saving on all other sports and should consider paying a little more to stay as a BWC affiliate. I do not think we should gouge them.
Mountain West will pay the Big West’s exit fee of $750,000.
It has not been decided if the men’s volleyball, beach volleyball, water polo and men’s swimming programs will remain in the Big West as affiliate members. The Mountain West does not support those sports. The Big West charges an affiliate fee of $25,000 for each sport.

I say the BW should charge more to Hawaii to be an affiliate member as the MW has the money.
I believe Hawaii will have financial trouble being in the MW as it will be much more expensive travel wise and their Football team doesn't draw that many fans with the new stadium being much smaller. Good luck to them they will need it.
Hawaii was a great school and had some great teams but times change and it will now make the BW an all California conference and that will help with travel and expenses.
Unfortunately the Big West has nothing to offer financially to member schools. This will be very problematic in getting new members that can provide financial stability for the conference.
