Cal Baptist is invested in athletics. I'd take them in a heart beat. They are nationally ranked in many sports. They have an engaged base (3k+ announced attendance at their first game for Mens basketball). They were only behind GCU in their directors cup race and would end up near the top of the Big West in the LEARFIELD standings, which emphasizes national finishes over conference.
From athletics standpoint, no reason not to.
Hurting UCR's feelings shouldn't be an issue. Religious affiliation doesn't bother me.

They would be a very good addition to the BW but I think the West Coast Conf is a better fit for CBU as all the schools in the WCC are private religious-based universities like LMU and Pepperdine.
If the BW adds a school after Hawaii leaves, we'd be at 11 members again. I am O.K. staying at 10 without Hawaii. Previous Message
Now that Hawaii is leaving for the MTN West in 2026 I would like to see the BW offer an invite to Cal Baptist out of the WAC. The WAC is losing Grand Canyon and Seattle in two years and maybe we could scoop up Cal Baptist which would be a travel partner for UCR. They have a very nice 5k Basketball Arena and it would keep the BW with all Cali teams? Any thoughts?
