It is tough to know how good your opponents are when you are 2 games into a season. But, to go on the road, to a packed arena, against a team that was coming off a win over McNeese state (who had been receiving votes for the top 25) and lose by one seems like a very promising sign. This is especially true because we did it with a team that last night is completely new (the three returners didn't play). Teams like ours tend to get much better as the season goes on.
This team's focus, according to the Coaches and the interviews of the players last night, will be defense. Frankly, that was not very good last night. But, I have a strong feeling that our defense is going to be the area that we really see get better as the season goes on. Personally, I am really encouraged.
Would been a great game to see in-person.
Tough poss but beat the pointspread...
Great effort boys.
I thought we might. A one point loss on the road with a mostly brand new team and coaching staff is a good sign. In fact none of our returning players saw action, and really Hart is the only one who might and he's injured.
Askew 15-16 FTs is nuts! and 8 assists. Big game from Wainwright 7-7 FTs and 4-8 from deep. If Askew can make a couple more fgs he was 5-20, we win this sucka!
Team 11-26 from 3 against a solid DI opponent is very encouraging!
Our bigs can dominate DIII squads, now they get to grow up fast. Johnson and Denson can handle themselves...can Richarson and DMX? Eventually yeah.
Told y'all Kam Martin is a player. Love that he hit 3-6 from downtown didn't see any of that in the first two games, but he's a gamer...slithery and is really quick off the dribble.
Hope they can pull out a win at USF, usually a pretty strong team lately.
I am hopeful we have a coaching staff that knows how to get the most and even more out of their team.
