Give the team time to gel. At least 10 games before judging them. Then judge them after that. New players and new coaches.
We were suppose to be a defensive team like San Diego St. In the last two games we have given up 80 and 84 points. With NO inside game we have to rely on Askew and Wainwright for offense. Some comments below were critical of dribble, dribble basketball. Well, when you have on one to pass to you have to dribble. Either our players are over rated or the offense/defense schemes are poor. So far I am very disappointed in our team.
At UCI Johnson was really good, especially as a rim protector. Last night he had a dunk in which he barely got up over the rim. Maybe he is injured. It's too early to say how we will do in the BW but I agree our bigs need to get better. Playing the less athletic, short Div 3 teams may have created some overconfidence. The Portland game at the Myd Saturday will be a test to see how we bounce back after SF beat us so badly. We did play well against SD State and hopefully, we can show that same effort and good play on Saturday.
After watching the dismantling last night including the absence of inside talent (at least as was demonstrated), I think we should not expect any victories but hope and look for improvement and development. Understood that USF is very good, but we showed nothing upfront. So far it doesn't look like Acker hit any home runs on immediate Big man help from the portal.
