Why not be a realist here and give Acker a chance
He was hired after recruiting season was over.
Last years players left to sit on the bench elsewhere.
He has a new system
He has new assistant coaches that need to learn the system
There are zero players on the floor with experience with the system to help mentor other players.
Most teams integrate 4 or 5 new players and we have 12 new players.
Your expectations for this team are way too high.
He should be judged on next year’s recruits and how they integrate into his system.
My observations…….
Concentrating on Defense is not working
Our guards, Askew, Tj, and Lloyd are our strength, but without an inside game, opponents press our guards and there is no other option inside and they take poor shots
The man to man defense wears us down and it affects our offense.
I like Denson and his aggressive play when he is in, but he needs more minutes
Nagy has possibilities, but is not in the offense at all
Let the big men throw in the ball from out of bounds and allow 3 guards to bring ball up the court
Acker needs to continue teaching and giving confidence to the players. His frustration at this early part of the season shows.
He needs to chill and follow his game plan, rather than yank a guy after a bad play.
Stick with his best five players and subs and give them time to jell.
I gave up on Monson, but not the team and think Acker deserves a chance.
Let’s see if more games and experience result in improved play by the end of the season.
That will be the real test of a coach and this team.
