I'm going glass half full, as we are coming off the 2 wins to open Big West, and USD is a beatable opponent.
Think of this for optimism: we are three possessions from being 6-5 on the year (South Dakota State, Portland, Fresno).
Lavin's Toreros seem pretty Terrible. 3-6 and the wins were all at home vs Boston University, Idaho, and Marian. He does have Earl Watson as his top assistant. They have 8 quality home non conference games against like competition. See their schedule here: https://usdtoreros.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule
Hope Acker can get us 4 or 5 of this level of home non conference opponents every year.
USD has losses at home to Rider, Portland St, Idaho St, Southern Utah, and blowout road losses at ASU and SDSU.
Nothing good stands out stats wise. Not one really dominant player we need to deal with. The only guard of note is 6-1 Jr guard Kjay Bradley 15.7 ppg 3 apg and he shoots 28% from 3, 45% from 2, and 70% FTs.
6-10 Sr Steve Jamerson has decent inside stats, 8.4 pts, 6.3 rbs. He teams up with 6-10 So Santiago Trouet who gets 8.6 pts 8.2 rbs. Something to deal with but not that big a deal.
Only decent team stat is FT% at 70%.
The bad team stats:
-6.6 pts per game
-4 rbs per game
12 assists to 15 TOs per game
23.3% from 3
As bad as we've been with 3 pt and FTs at times, our team stats:
FT = 69%
3 pt = 34%
-6.7 ppg
-0.8 rpg
-10 assists to 15 TOs per game
We've had 5 blowouts that contributed to these stats.
We play like we have been the last two games, we win this one. USD is not hot losing 5 out of their last 7 games.
