Can we beat Pepperdine, absolutely. Will we beat them? Not sure, but I have a feeling we have turned the corner, and if Fullerton can beat them we certainly ought to do the same.
Pepperdine is 5-6 with wins at home over Western Illinois and Northern Arizona, a neutral court win over New Mexico State, and a home loss to Fullerton a rare time they got outrebounded badly. They also got pounded by the elite of the BW so far, UCI and UCSD, both road games. Riding a 3 game win streak all at home.
Waves Team Stats: 3 pt 34%, FT 73%, 3.0 rebounding margin, 16.5 assists to 12 TO per game.
Waves have height and experience at all positions.
3 guys take a lot of 3's: 6-8 Todorovic (40%); 6-1 Odum 43%; and 6-4 Bethea 33%.
I don't love our chances in this one. It would be a nice road win before we get into the BW conference. Team defense and out rebounding the Waves are keys. Some hot shooting from the usual suspects would help. Any production from our bigs outside of Johnson would be huge.
I expect a Pepperdine win by around 7 points. Hope I'm wrong, GO BEACH!!!
