“I was really disappointed in our physicality and effort tonight,” LBSU coach Chris Acker said. “We got exposed. They were the more experienced and better team tonight. Emotionally it feels like we took some steps backwards in terms of our togetherness and being on the same page.”
“I feel like from the start of the game we didn’t come out and play with the same energy and passion and energy that we’ve been playing with during our winning streak,” LBSU forward Cm Denson said. “We didn’t do what we were prepared to do. We were prepared to guard them; we just didn’t put it on the floor.”
“the only thing that concerns me is physicality and toughness,” Acker said. “That’s how you win college basketball games. I’ve been a part of a lot of really good teams and this is a good group of guys. They want to do it. You are not going to win against the upper echelon (in the Big West) if we don’t do those things. In the beginning of our season we went through learning, we are learning now that if we want to beat good teams in (the Big West) we have to do all of the hard things consistently. It will have nothing to do with missing or making shots.”
“The game didn’t come down to their execution on offense,” Acker said. “It came down to giving up offensive rebounds that led to threes, or (not taking) opportunities to dive on loose balls.”

Another problem is we missed about 10 layups. Austin had two of them roll halfway down then back out. Pickens outmuscled us like 3 times for rebounds. They wanted it more and were stronger on the ball both sides. Recipe for a loss.
Lone bright spot, 11-13 FTs. Everything else was not good. That kind of effort may beat fullerton but not the top of the heap. Previous Message
NAB everything I wanted to post about the game last night you said it spot on. I was very impressed with UCRs defense, their man d on the perimeter was outstanding and energetic, our guys had little room to operate one on one. Conversely, our d was too focused on Hargress and did hold him in check for about 10 minutes. Too bad they gave Moses and Pickens too much open space and they ate us up. I knew we'd be challenged with rebounds but I didn't know Nagy would be back...he had been sick and look wiped when he played any stretches but still the kid plays hard all the time. Anyway, UCR is very well coached, has returning guys, and everyone knew they'd be tough.
I don't feel like we rolled over until the last 3 minutes when it was out of reach but where we totally lacked was defensive intensity and smarts. We get a 'C' at best, give UCR an A. We have to learn from this.
Great to see Hart warming up and very active, hope he gets in playing shape soon. His intensity could have been useful tonight to fire up his mates.
Coach was not happy with this effort and I don't blame him. Coming from SDSU you know he has high standards for intensity and that was lacking.
Offensively, hard to say how we played because UCR's defense rolled us pretty good. I thought we did ok but like I'd said it would take a huge offensive night if we lacked at all on defense.
Learn from this one and remember the sting, UCR just punked us in our house. Gotta remember that as motivation. Previous Message
Got schooled by the UCR coach.
I knew it was just a mater of time.
UCR played as a team, both on offense and defense. We did not. Our offense relies on two or three guards and minor support from the rest of the team. UCR pressed our guards and gave them little room to shoot the ball. They failed to take advantage of the inside game from our bigs.
UCR did a good job on offense moving the ball around. We looked lost at times trying to keep up
This is about a complete new team and coaching staff going against a decent team with a seasoned coach and staff. Nothing to be embarrassed about. Just learn from the failure and get better
This year all the big west teams that they and the coach staff will face will be a new experience! Just learn as you go, identify your weakness and improve
Next year they will be better
