Repaneling/roofing the entire structure is expensive. Maybe you build a new style roof after deconstructing (Think Santa Clara Leavey center) that isn't as iconic but functional. Would require changing out the entire electrical and HVAC layouts as well. I don't see a new arena being easy to come by, so fear the full tear down.

Agree, it's sad but LB St needs to seriously look into building a new campus arena.
UCI Bren vs he Mid: Bren opened in 1987 at a cost of ~$14M seating 5,700. The Mid opened in 1994 at a cost of ~$21M seating 4,000 (I much prefer watching games at the mid over the Bren). It appears the Bren has many more years of life ahead though. Previous Message
It sounds to me that the solution to the problem is a new arena. Sadly, it is probably not a good idea to spend many millions on the MYD. Previous Message
The blue entrance, south side, probably has some kind of dry rot or something. The underside of the bridge that takes you to the blue entrance, it looks like water damage. Saw some photos and my buddy was a gen'l contractor for a long time. Not looking good. Crumbling is the best way to describe it. The other entrances are taped off, precautionary for now I would guess.
Saturdays game may be in the Gold Mine again. From what I was told. But no one really knows.
At this point I could care less where MBB plays, but MVB if the Mid isn't available, I'd rather they go elsewhere the gold mine and its low ceiling is a joke for volleyball at our level.
Crumbling infrastructure, get used to it.
