MBB needs to turn things around and quickly. If they do not, Acker and the program are at long term risk. Acker's pitch is that he can develop players. If the team falls apart going forward, then that pitch is harder to sell. Given the way things are going, who will return? If you gut the team of impact players, it is harder to sell next year to transfers. Momentum is a critical thing in the NIL era. You have to do well enough to hang onto a significant part of your core, and to entice talented players to come. In Askew and Wainwright you have a couple scorers, In Cam Martin you have a young player with talent, will any of them return? Why would they? No one likes to lose. I imagine several of our underperforming players would come back, should we be excited about that?
