There is no such thing I have been told by HR. Please stop assuming things are the same as 30 years ago. They told me there would be 'no free money.' Please stop passing around false info.

PERS does have a provision available to staff, which provides two years additional service credit for certain individuals in certain circumstances (like layoff). It’s commonly referred to as the Golden Handshake. The last time I recall it being used was in the fiscal crisis in the very early 90’s. Previous Message
FERP is only for faculty and has existed forever. It does not apply to Staff. Please get all the facts to be accurate. There is no early retirement program for staff. Previous Message
Sorry to jump in on this, but when you read the article in the Current, there is a tab about Chris Lowe of the Shark Lab and his retirement. In addition to information on Chris and his decision, the article touches on the early retirement program that faculty and staff are taking in anticipation of the further budget cuts coming.
