It was doubly frustrating last year when they had a decent team. Previous Message
The guys at the 562 are not going to ask tough questions as Long Beach State sports is a big part of their business and they aren't going to risk pissing any of the coaches off. Previous Message
I am always astounded at the questions that get asked in the men's basketball postgame media availabilities.
They never ask about injuries, trends, struggles of certain players. They could beat La Verne by 40 (as any D1 team would), and the reporters ask about how important it was to outrebound them. It's because they're playing a D3 team, fellas!
I just feel like those are an opportunity to the coach about decision-making, rotations and availability of certain players. But, alas. Previous Message
Adding to the Situation Hopeless theme, there is literally no competent media on the 44th largest city in USA and 5th largest in CA (LA, SF, SJ, SD).
No local tv since Charter Cable local channel died.
No daily newspaper as PT is really Daily News wire copy with A local story per day.
And the two LBSU grads doing what's left of the Grunion (errr printing their 562 stories on that website) are about as bad as our hoops teams.
This week's article by Fiddler (page 6 after endless HS stuff) is a complete cut and paste of the two LBSU releases for track and tennis coach departures. Other than a badly written first paragraph, it is word for word cut and paste froom LBSU sports info including the quotes. No journalism.
No doubt these two 'reporters' will be inducted into the CSULB Journalism Dept Hall of Fame.
I'm really struggling to find anything good left of my alum. It's bad on court, in the classroom and with the support infrastructure around the community.
End of rant.
Reading that cut and paste thing, after last nights hoops mismanagement, just set me off.
