This season 100% on the athletic director.
Need to show her was in charge turned Monson into martyr.
Team then rallied around that to overachieve.
Likely led to more transfers than might have otherwise occurred.
Thus late roster build filled with below average rejects from other places.
Very poor management at the top caused this mess and yet another rebuild to come.

The players either come to play or not. This is simple. Basketball is basketball, no magic elixir is going to be found in a year or two. Come to play or not. We have two people on the bench for many games which I don't understand, and no Wainwright. Previous Message
This year's team did not seem to have the talent of the guys who left. Coach is on the clock to upgrade all around. I was disheartened by seeing little progress in results as the year went on.
SDSU's system revolved around strong defense, and many of their games were won in the 60's. They seemed to have thrived with stable but not flashy offense and stellar defense. Keep teams averaging less than 65 points a game. This year was a crapshoot, and while disappointing, not that unexpected given everyone leaving.
The guys coming in are talented, but I'd be surprised if we don't try to get some older transfers as well. Previous Message
