A little over a year ago CDM was not renewed as the basketball coach. Almost ALL on this board were calling for his oust for years. Then it happened and most everyone was jumping on the bandwagon that a new coach was going to take us back to the promise land of the top 3 in the BigWest. The new coach got the players he could on short notice. The team won 5 games and everyone jumped off the bandwagon. Now he is getting rid of all of the "star" players who led us to that great 15 game losing streak (Askew was a star player so I don't include him). The board has lit up again with doom and gloom. Reality is we have a new coach who needs to learn how to be a head coach, with a 5 year contract and IMO two of the best 3 players returning (so far). He has good high school players coming in and some offers out. The portal just opened up so we will see what occurs there. NIL money is an issue too. The future may be bright. I overhard a comment from Ed Ratliff at a volleyball game last week when he was asked about the basketball team. He said that we were going to be really good next year. I am sure he has more inside information than most everyone on this board. NO ONE wants a repeat of the past season. Let's support what very well could be a growing program.
