The Utah FB players got a leased truck from a local Dodge dealer in 2023. I read that the Utah players only get the leased vehicle as long as they are on the roster and enrolled. I don't know anything about any car info involving DMX, Here's a 2023 article from the Utah story. "Name, image and likeness (NIL) deals in college athletics are more popular than ever, with athletes signing sponsorships like professional athletes would. While some players earn NIL deals with car dealerships, the Utah Utes football team got way more than that Wednesday." "Eighty-five Utah players on scholarship were in for the surprise of a lifetime when they received leases for Dodge Ram pickup trucks. The Utah Crimson Collective, a nonprofit organization, organized the deal and will be covering the lease and insurance payments, according to Forbes. Players will be responsible for tax payments." ![]() We need players. 10 were in portal. The car gets me. I think NCAA/NIL should require two year commitments, one transfer max unless you graduate. Pro's sign 2-4 year deals, college athletes want to be pros but want revenue share not profit share. Holding teams hostage every year will not work if universities bleed money. Reminds me of WNBA players argument to get paid like the NBA, but if they were paid similar methods to the men, they would get nothing because the league still bleeds money and is subsidized by the NBA. Universities, and even more so the Donors, viewed it as philanthropic or in addition to the educational mission, so the losses were charitable to help young people in a vulnerable time in life. The car, if paid for by NIL funds or a sponsored lease, shows how silly that is. ![]() DMX posted today on Instagram showing him working out with a coach at the Myd. I hope this means he's staying at LB. He has also recently posted himself behind the wheel of a very nice newer car. |
