It was a nice close and TJ definitely deserves acknowledgment for some tough circumstances. That said, I’m going to calibrate expectations around being a perennial Top 3 finisher anytime soon, if ever. When we were that, about 15 years ago, Santa Barbara was a pretty bad program, Irvine was in the early stages of being consistently good, Cal Poly wasn’t really relevant,
and UC San Diego wasn’t even in the conference. UCSD was also a D2 powerhouse that probably could have been a decent BW program, even with the D2 recruiting limitations. They don’t have those constraints now and San Diego’s a pretty great place to recruit from and to. I still think there’s better days ahead, but it’s no longer Fullerton and whatever upstart(s) you had to deal with in a given year.
