I fell in Tahoe on the ice one year at New Year's Eve, stone sober walking down the street. Dan didn't know why I was getting looked at, but when he walked by:
"You again?"
- "My back is not feeling right"
"Yeah, that's going around."
He was a hard ass, but once he saw you were committed to getting healthy, no b.s., he dropped the guard down a bit, just a hair.
After another injury setback later in my career, after basically seeing me everyday for years, he came over out of the blue beyond our casual hellos, and just said, "It's been a tough go for you, hasn't it."

To change the subject a little. Long Beach State very fortunate to have in my mind the greatest trainer in the history of college sports in the great Dan Bailey who was our head trainer for 36 years. Previous Message
