A quick note, moneys for the 'Mid and the student Union are not in competition with each other. The student Union is funded with student fees, the loans taken out to rebuild the student Union will be paid back with student AS funds. Additionally, some portion of the Union rebuild is tied directly to donors. None of it is from the general maintenance money of the University, nor is the Union in competition with other instructional funds.

With the money spent on the Union project, I don't think the Myd roof will ever get repaired unless a huge donor steps up to fund all or part of it. I hope we don't have to play too many games in the awful Goldmine.

Show this to the first generation of students who had to walk through mud to get to temporary buildings to get their education.
Also, she gives the characterization of the Union as being a vanity project but has no justification as to why it is a vanity project. I think the cost is outrageous, but I believe stats show that commuters tend to take greater advantage of the Student Union, he's completely backwards on that. When I was in the dorms, I just went back to my dorm. Commuters who have two classes a day often spend more time in the upper campus common areas.

Disagree with the opinion writer as working toward a new student union as well as more dorms can allow for students to stay longer on campus and be involved overall in things going on. Including attending sporting events.
