I hope this note finds you well. I’m reaching out to share an exciting update about the future of our iconic Pyramid at Long Beach State. As part of our continued efforts to strengthen the financial sustainability and national profile of Long Beach State Athletics, we are in the final stages of securing a historic naming rights partnership for the Pyramid with LBS Financial Credit Union.

While this agreement is pending formal approval by the CSU Board of Trustees (November 17-19), we are optimistic that this partnership will soon be finalized. We believe this collaboration represents a transformative moment for The Beach – one that honors our past, celebrates our community, and helps secure the future of our athletic programs for generations to come.

I also want to take this opportunity to express our deepest appreciation to Mike and Arline Walter, whose generosity and vision have profoundly shaped both Beach Athletics and the broader university community. The Walters have exemplified what it means to put students first – supporting athletics, academics, and countless initiatives that strengthen our mission. Their willingness to step aside from the facility’s naming to enable this next phase of growth is a remarkable act of selflessness and continued commitment to our success.
We are also proud to welcome LBS Financial Credit Union, a longstanding supporter of our university community since 1935, as the prospective new naming partner. This collaboration symbolizes shared values – excellence, community, and opportunity – and strengthens our ties to an organization that has served CSULB faculty, staff, students, and alumni for over 70 years.
