One of the SLO guards slipped bad there landed on his backside and hit his head on the floor. I didn't see any leaks there but yeah a few guys slid there. This rain has been relentless. 3-4 more days of showers then some dry weather for a week.
Petar was super efficient and SLO could do nothing to stop him, 12-16 FGs is great. Farrell is becoming a good player for us and his dunk was electric over a guy 4 inches taller than him who had good position.
Diaz started, finally. Played great had like 3 first half steals. He's the smallest guy on the court but plays big, EXCEPT taking the ball out of bounds, in the corner, Acker has him do it twice in a row first time has to call a timeout next time 5 second call. Still has him do it and he struggles. Another stubborn HC.
Diaz is way better than Lewis in everything but being able to defend with length. Lewis rhythm dribbles between his legs for so freaking long and everyone else stops moving. Acker yells at him every time to move and run the offense. And he rarely does. He can't shoot well, but has his good moments. Diaz has to be our lead pg.
And why isn't DMX playing 20 mpg? No clue. Shay is decent, he started bad but ended well tonight. Devillian I can see why we are trying to develop him, but Chaikovsky shouldn't be anywhere near the court over DMX, who is so active and athletic sure he's bad creating offense and fouls with his hands too much but at least give him 15 minutes a game. He's a decent FT shooter and can block shots too.
We blew a big lead but held on this time even after the SLO coach threw in the towel with a minute left, our guys managed to give up a 4 pt play, multiple TOs, and we only won by 8 when by all means we should have won by double that. Baby steps closing out games, I guess. I'm sure they practice the hell out of it, and handling the full court press the setup looks fine but every guy seems tentative they need to be decisive.
All that said, best win in a while. SLO is a decent BW team and we owned them most the game.

Yes. It is always good to get a BW win. Petar had a double-double, and Sykes and Farrell had strong games. Diaz led the team with 5 rebounds.
Did anyone else notice that the players were slipping all game in the same area near the basket in front of the Poly bench? The attendants kept wiping the same wet spot over and over again, but only on the side that Poly shot in the 2nd half, and not on the side of the LB bench. Is it possible that the Goldmine has a roof leak, too?

A nice win. Great game for Petar. Glad Acker has figured out Diaz is his facilitator. Cannot understand why DMX gets so few minutes. Baffling.

I have been watching the game on my phone as I was watching the late football game on TV (Seattle beat SF). Got to hand it to our team tonight! Things finally seem to be coming together!!! The team seemed to be able to play the type of defense that Coach Ack has been talking about since he got here! I am sorry that I missed the game tonight, but the rain was just hitting the Canyon Lake area when it was time for me to hit the road for the game. It is a shame that we had to play in the Gold Mine on a night when our team seemed to hit its stride. Keep it going guys and staff!!! Nice win!!!
