LBhoops, the Mid does leak but what about it is flawed and why do you say that it can't be saved? Have you been involved with or read the studies the University has conducted? If so maybe you can enlighten the rest of us on these issues.
The Bren Center is a nice facility, but its initial budget was about 2/3 more than the Pyramid and counting inflation was over a third higher on completion. The Pyramid has better sight lines, a strength center, Conference Center, and coaches offices. It is also a campus and City icon.
Also, there was never a student votes for the Pyramid or the Parking Structure. There have been student referendums on the Student Union renovations as the are paid for with student fees.
The Mid roof can be replaced though it will be costly. The issue has been that it has not been a University priority under the past administration. Hopefully the next President, hopefully named at this months BOT meeting, will make it a priority. It would be helpful if the efforts of alumni and boosters can be focused to let the incoming President know that this is a priority. The longer we wait the more costly the fix will be and the more likely the University will face additional litigation. While this is a major issue for our Athletic Department, it is in no way their responsibility to get the building fixed.
